 오르간은 파이프 오르간과 디지털 오르간 두 가지 주요 유형으로 나뉠 수 있습니다. 전통적으로 오르간은 파이프로 구성되며 여러 개의 키보드와 파이프 줄을 가질 수 있습니다. 이러한 파이프는 크기와 모양이 다양하여 다양한 음색을 내게 됩니다.
+오르간(organ)이라는 악기는 그 이름부터 고대 그리스어 "오르가논(organon, όργανον)"에서 유래했습니다. "오르가논"은 본래 '도구', '기구', '수단', '기관', '악기' 등 다양한 의미를 가진 단어로, 연주를 위한 조직적이고 체계적인 도구라는 뜻을 내포합니다. 이 어원은 이후 라틴어 "organum"을 거쳐 오늘날의 "organ"으로 발전했습니다.
+오르간의 실제 기원은 고대 그리스로 거슬러 올라갑니다. 기원전 3세기경 알렉산드리아의 기술자 크테시비오스(Ctesibius)에 의해 물의 압력을 이용해 공기를 파이프에 불어넣어 소리를 내는 악기인 "히드라울리스(hydraulis)"가 발명되었습니다. 이 히드라울리스가 바로 오르간의 원형이 되었으며, 이후 오르간은 유럽으로 전해져 교회 음악과 함께 크게 발전했습니다.
