+미국의 통신 전화 회사인 벨 시스템 설립자인 알렉산더 그레이엄 벨의 이름에서 Bell을 따와 B라는 단위량으로 사용한 것. dB(deciBel)은 그것의 1/10의 값을 말한다.

+어떤 큰 물리량을 로그 스케일로 표현하기 위하여 dB 단위를 사용한다, 주로 소리, 전기, 전력 등에 사용한다.
+만약 레퍼런스 단위가 1SPL 이면, dBSPL, 1mW 면 dBm, 1V 면 dBV 의 단위를 사용하게 된다.
+이 때 dBSPL이나 dBm, dBu와 같은 단위는 실제적인 절대값을 표현하고, dB는 상대적인 증가와 감소를 표기하는데 쓰인다.
+예시)
+  * 10dBSPL + 20dB = 30dBSPL (O)
+  * 10dBSPL + 20dBSPL = 30dBSPL (X)
+힘(power)을 표현하는 단위에서 3dB 의 증감은 힘의 2배나 1/2배의 증감을 나타내며, 진폭(amplitude)을 나타내는 단위에서는 6dB의 증감이 그 값의 2배나 1/2배의 증감을 나타내게 된다.

+dB에 따른 힘의 크기의 비율
+  * 1:1 = 0dB
+  * 2:1 = 3dB
+  * 4:1 = 6dB
+  * 8:1 = 9dB
+  * 10:1 = 10dB

+dB에 따른 신호의 크기의 비율
+  * 1:1 = 0dB
+  * √2:1 = 3dB

+**아래에 나오는 단위 중 dBSPL, dBm 등은 Power에 해당하고, dBV, dBVU, dBu, dBFS등은 Amplitude에 해당한다.**

+진폭 1.228V는 4dBu인데, 2배인 2.456V는 10dBu쯤 임.
