 가청 범위보다 낮은 주파수(20Hz 미만)의 소리를 초저주파라고 하고 가청 범위 이상의 주파수(20,000Hz 이상)의 소리를 초음파라고 합니다. 초저주파 및 초음파 소리는 여전히 진동이나 불편함을 유발하는 등 인간에게 영향을 미칠 수 있지만 직접 소리로 인식되지는 않습니다.
