무선통신은 전선이나 케이블 없이 전자 신호를 무선으로 전송해 정보를 교환하는 통신 기술입니다. 라디오 파, 마이크로파, 인터넷, 휴대전화, 위성 통신, Bluetooth 등 다양한 응용 분야에서 사용되며, 기기 간에 데이터, 음성, 영상을 전송하고 통신하는 데 중요한 역할을 합니다. 무선통신은 물리적 연결이 필요 없기 때문에 휴대성과 편의성이 높아 이동 중인 장치와 네트워크 간의 연결을 용이하게 합니다.

음향 신호의 주파수는 가청 주파수 대역인 20~20,000Hz의 진동수를 가진 소리의 파동입니다. 소리는 공기를 매질로 사용하기 때문에 멀리 전송하기 어렵지만, 이 신호를 높은 주파수의 캐리어 주파수와 변조(Modulation)하여 전자를 매질로 사용하는 전자기파 형태로 전송하면 먼 거리까지도 보낼 수 있습니다. 수신 측에서는 다시 복조(Demodulation)를 통해 캐리어 주파수를 제거하고 원래의 음향 신호를 복원하여 무선으로 소리 신호를 전송할 수 있습니다.
