환경음

어느 장소를 가던 해당 장소의 특징적인 소리가 있다. 도로라면 자동차들이 지나가는 소리와 바람 소리, 숲 속이라면 나무가 흔들리는 소리나 풀벌레들의 소리, 빌딩 내부의 회사라면 컴퓨터가 돌아가는 소리나 키보드를 두드리는 소리 사람들의 말 소리가 있다. 이러한 것들을 주변 환경음이라고 한다.

만약 이것이 방해되는 음이라면 주변 환경잡음(Ambient noise, Background noise)이라고 말하기도 한다.

Wherever you go, there are characteristic sounds of that place. For example, on a road, you may hear the sounds of passing cars and the rustling of the wind. In a forest, you may hear the sounds of trees swaying and the chirping of crickets. Inside an office building, there could be the sounds of computers running, keyboards being typed on, and people talking. These elements are referred to as environmental sounds or ambience audio.
