여러 채널의 개별 오디오 신호를 결합하여 하나의 스테레오 신호로 만들어주는 것을 서밍이라고 하고 서밍을 할 수 있는 믹서를 서밍 믹서라고 한다.

일반적인 믹싱 콘솔의 경우, 마이크 프리앰프, 컴프레서, 이퀄라이저, AUX, 패닝, 페이더 등의 여러가지 구성요소가 전부 갖춰져 있지만, 서밍 믹서의 경우에는 이러한 요소들은 전부 제거되고 패닝, 페이더만 사용한다. 즉 신호의 서밍만 프로세스 하게 된다.

Summing is the process of combining individual audio signals from multiple channels into a single stereo signal, and a mixer capable of performing summing is known as a summing mixer.

In a typical mixing console, various components like microphone preamps, compressors, equalizers, aux sends, panning controls, faders, and more are all available. However, in the case of a summing mixer, these components are removed, leaving only panning and faders. In other words, the summing mixer is focused solely on processing the summing of signals.
